Network configuration

Note: You need to stop and restart the Instant IMtegrity Proxy Server for any network configuration changes to take effect.

Internal: Configures the internal (inside the firewall) network settings of the IMtegrity proxy server for AOL AIM client connections.

Provide network service for AOL AIM clients on:

  • Any available IP address on this system (default)
Select this option if you have a single network interface card ("NIC") installed in your system or if you have multiple IP addresses assigned (either single or multiple NICs) and you want to allow AOL AIM connections to connect to all of them. This is the default option.
  • This specific IP address only:
Select this option if you have multiple NICs installed in your system or if you have multiple IP addresses assigned and youw want to allow AOL AIM connections to connect to only one specific NIC or IP address only. This option is required if you have two NICs each connecting to different networks. For example, NIC #1 is connected to your internal LAN and NIC #2 is connected to the public Internet. In this case, you'd need to specify one IP address assigned to NIC #1 which is connected to your internal LAN. Note: Do not provide any IP address of any NIC adapter bound to the public Internet here.

Provide network service to AOL AIM clients on port number:
The port number used by the IMtegrity proxy server to listen for incoming AOL client connections.
The default port number is 5190. We do not recommend to change this default.

External: Configures the external (through the firewall/to the public Internet) network settings of the IMtegrity proxy server for AOL client connections.

All outgoing connections to the public AOL servers will automatically happen on the system's primary/default connection. The NIC specified in that primary/default connection is automatically being used for all outbound network connectivity. To determine or set the primary/default connection, open the "Network and Dial-up connections" control panel and select "Advanced, Advanced Settings...". On the first "Adapters and Bindings" tab, the topmost entry in the "Connections" listbox is the primary/default connection. Use the arrow buttons on the right to move any connection to the top to make it the primary/default connection.

Remote AOL server address:
Address of the AOL login server. The default address is login.oscar.aol.com. We do not recommend to change this default.

Port Number:
Port number of the AOL login server. The default port number is 5190. We do not recommend to change this default.

Connect via proxy server address:
Select this option to enable the IMtegrity to pass AOL IM traffic through an SOCKS application proxy server.
Provide the IP number or DNS name of the SOCKS server.

Port number:
Port number of the SOCKS server. The default port for SOCKS servers is 1080.

Protocol:
Depending on your SOCKS server, select either SOCKS 4 or SOCKS 5.
Note: If the SOCKS server is running SOCKS 5, you might also have to provide a name and password, depending on whether the SOCKS5 server requires authentication, check with your network administrator.

Name: (SOCKS 5 only)
If the SOCKS5 server requires authentication, provide the login name here. Check with your network administrator for details.

Password: (SOCKS 5 only)
If the SOCKS5 server requires authentication, provide the login password here. Check with your network administrator for details.
